Great Shark Lizard-Carcharodontosaurus saharicus by Fragillimus335 Great Shark Lizard-Carcharodontosaurus saharicus by Fragillimus335
Carcharodontosaurus was one of the largest terrestrial predators of all time, at an estimated 13.7 meters in length, it was only exceeded by Spinosaurus. With a weight in the region of 7-8 tons it also may have outweighed the giant Tyrannosaurus rex. Carchy may have had to compete with Spinosaurus in its native habitat.

My best guess is right around 3.6-3.8 meters.

Cool, but the second largest Theropod was Giganotosaurus.

Maybe, maybe not... If the larger Carcharodontosaur specimens are really as big as some fragments indicate it was a tad longer and heavier than old Giggy. In any case Carcharodontosaurs is basically the same animal as Giganotosaurus.

Giganotosaurus was not smaller than Carcharodontosaurus, but was the same size. But he had a skull bigger, so I consider it a little bigger.

I t might have been smaller, and it might have been the same size, and it might have been bigger, we just don't have enough to say for sure.

The old 1.8 and 1.95 meter estimates for Giggy's skull were mistakes, in reality its skull is ~1.6 meters long, just like Carcharodontosaurus.

I know, but Giggy's skull is still a bit longer:

SMG din-1's skull: 1.56 meters
MUPCv-95's skull: 1.65 meters

They are both estimated between 1.5-1.7 meters long, the difference you have is about 3 inches. Species variation makes this meaningless. They are the same size.

Very nice! Carcharodontosaurus is one of my favorite dinosaurs!

A curiosity: in the description of deviazine of Giganotosaurus, said that Giganotosaurus was the second largest carnivorous dinosaur, but this time that role falls to Carcharodontosaurus. I'm a bit confused.

They were very close to the same size, but Carchar seems to have been just an itsy bit longer.

Carcharodontosaurus was maybe a little longer, but Giganotosaurus was more cumbersome.

I was trying to show the raised ridges more than the sucked in holes, but it's hard to make that distinction when I don't have much 3-d skill! :)

Carcharodontosaurus is one dinosaur that could have given a Spinosaurus a run for it's money...
